Abbey National has received a series of expressions of interest in Porterbrook, the train leasing operation. Abbey bought Porterbrook from Stagecoach in 2000 for £1.5bn. Abbey National is expected to announce plans to sell off most of its wholesale banking over the next three years. It is expected that there will be a rebranding or sale of Scottish Mutual, Scottish Provident and Cahoot.
