Reed Elsevier may be considering selling the businesses of its Reed Business Information (RBI) division separately.
It has been suggested that despite Reed Elsevier's plan to sell RBI, its adviser, UBS, is putting together sale information that would split the division into European and US divisions.
It is thought that RBI may even be split into three or four businesses based on geography.
RBI has been valued at around £1.25bn.
