The Officers Club, UK menswear retailer, followed Whittard of Chelsea into administration last night. 118 of its 150 stores were sold to its chief executive and the reminder 32 stores will be closed down.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, the appointed administrators, put the retailer on the market last night. TimeC 1215 Limited, a company supported by David Charlton, CEO of The Officers Club, bought most of the stores immediately.
David Charlton's purchase of the retailers stores has protected the jobs of over 900 people.
The Officers Club was established in the early 1990s in Sunderland.
It has since grown to become one of the biggest retail companies in the UK with flagship stores in London's Oxford Street and north-east England.
