Richard Balfour-Lynn, the property entrepreneur, has appointed Deutsche Bank to conduct a strategic review of his £3bn portfolio of hotels. Balfour-Lynn is reportedly in discussions with Royal Bank of Scotland over a possible partnership which would combine £1bn of RBS hotels together with his own to form a real estate investment trust (REIT). Balfour-Lynn's hotels include the Mayfair Cavendish and the Brighton Grand. Any deal with RBS is expected to take around 6 months to complete.
