The BBC has decided to sell their Outside Broadcast division to Satellite Information Service (SIS), the UK-based sports TV company. BBC project director, Andy Thornton, believed the SIS offer was the best deal offered for license payers.The BBC Outside Broadcast arm, which has been valued at £150m, was put up for sale by the UK government-backed broadcaster last summer.It has been agreed between SIS and the BBC that the BBC will continue to use their outside broadcast operations, according to Thornton.Additionally, a sale of the BBC's post production business is still being discussed. The BBC will retain its studio operations because the unit had failed to secure offers that would have provided the employees with similar terms.Among the concerns that led the BBC to call off the sale of the studios business were pensions. Pinewood Shepperton, the UK-based film production company, had expressed interest in the business.
