The managing director of family-owned boat company Berthon International has revealed that the company would consider serious offers with a premium for the business despite the fact that it is not actively up for sale. Brian May, who is an equal shareholder in the business together with his brother Dominic, said that the business should sell for at least ten times its earnings before interest, tax depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), and that the proceeds from any sale would be invested in a new venture. Berthon has a turnover of over £20m, and EBITDA in 2005 was £1.3m.
