Bodycote, the engineering group, has sold its testing business to private equity group Clayton, Dubilier and Rice for £417m. The specialist thermal engineer, which provides heat-treated metals to aircraft and car makers, is to return £260m of proceeds to shareholders. The testing business runs 130 laboratories in 25 countries and provides testing services for industrial materials, engineered components and pharmaceuticals.
