Bodycote to sell materials testing division

Engineering company, Bodycote, have decided to sell its materials testing business for around £400m.Bodycote has begun a strategic review, with the aim of increasing shareholder value. The business, which started out in 1923 manufacturing textiles, have appointed advisers to assist with the potential sale of the division. It is thought that rivals in the testing sector, such as Intertek and SGS, are likely to be interested in purchasing the division. Bodycote also expects a degree of venture capital interest.
