Steven Cohen, the UK managing director of Courts, the furniture retailer, is rumoured to be preparing an estimated £80m bid for the company’s British chain. Courts hired Merrill Lynch and Cavendish Corporate Finance in January to advise on its options, which include an outright sale of the group, a refinancing of the business and the disposal of some assets.
