The Daily Mail has hoisted a "for sale" sign over its 100-strong stable of regional newspaper titles, which includes the Aberdeen Press & Journal and Evening Express, in a deal that could fetch up to £1.6bn.The group, which also owns Associated Newspapers – home to the Daily Mail and London's Evening Standard – said it planned to sell Northcliffe Newspapers as a unit, saying it would be too complicated to break up the division.
