Dolcis, the UK footwear retailer is up for sale. Alexon, the UK listed fashion group that owns Dolcis, has hired Hawkpoint to handle the sale. An information memorandum has been sent to potential bidders in the last two weeks. Private equity funds are said to be among those contacted. The report claimed that Alexon had decided to sell off Dolcis because of fierce competition in the footwear sector. Dolcis posted a loss of £700k in 2005 compared to profit of £3.6m in 2004. Alexon had £81m of turnover in 2005, the report concluded.
