UK-based packaging manufacturer and office products wholesaler DS Smith has been tipped to sell its plastics division as well as some or all of the remaining parts of its office manufacturing division. In 2004/5, the plastics division accounted for £195.9m (12%) of turnover but sources only value it at c. £100m due to low profits and predict that it may be difficult to sell due to its fragmented nature. The company will not sell its UK or continental corrugated packaging businesses or Spicers UK. DS Smith's current market cap is £574m.
