DSG International is tipped to sell its struggling retail chain The Link to O2 following another month of disappointing sales for the company. Mobile phone company O2, which already owns a 40% stake in The Link, is reportedly keen to buy the chain as it will aid its strategy to increase its landline services. The Link employs 2,300 staff in 300 stores across the UK. Sales in 2005 came to £428m, but like for like sales over the past 12 months have shown a decrease of 25%. O2 paid £25m for its stake in The Link in 1997.
