European Motor Holdings, the UK-listed car retailer, is considering a number of options for the company including a sale of the business. Last month, the company appointed Goldman Sachs to carry out a strategic review of the business, prompting speculation of an imminent sale. However, EMH have recently stressed that a sale is just one possibility for the company and that no decision will be made for several weeks. Other options include returning capital to shareholders, a merger or making a significant acquisition. Potential buyers include Inchcape, Pendragon and Lookers, while independent car delers Jardines and Arthur Clark have been tipped as possible merger candidates. EMH has a market capitalisation of £240.2m.
