Finning, the Canadian distributor of Caterpillar industrial equipment, is thought to have put the tool rental business of Hewden, its UK subsidiary, up for sale. The business is estimated to fetch up to £80m. Rival equipment hire company Speedy Hire has been tipped as a potential bidder. Finning has also recently disposed of Hewden's materials handling operations in an effort to raise margins in the UK.
