Foster Yeoman, the Somerset-based building materials company with 700 staff, is to be acquired by Holcim of Switzerland for an estimated cash offer of £300m. Holcim, one of the world's leading cement makers, will acquire the company via its UK subsidiary Aggregate Industries Plc. Foster Yeoman sells over 11 million tons of aggregate and around 1.5 million tons of ashpalt per year. It owns two major quarries in the UK and has a network of sales points accross continental Europe.
