Government to sell off British Energy Stake
17/07/2006
The government is to set out its plans for the partial sale of its British Energy stake in a written parliamentary answer this week. The sale is expected to take place in the Autumn and could fetch approximately £2bn. British Energy was privatised in 1996 but the government owns 65 per cent of the company's net cash flows after bailing it out in 2002. Credit Suisse and Citigroup are both tipped to be potential bidders.
