Greencore is in talks to sell its UK-based Rathbones bread business. Discussions with an unnamed bidder are believed to be at an advanced stage with the business thought to be worth about £10m. The business was valued at £50m in 1997 when Greencore increased its stake to 100%. Rathbones operates at the value end of the bread market, supplying own-label bread to a number of multiples, including Tesco and Morrisons.
