Greeting Card Group, the UK's second largest retailer of cards and gifts, has entered administration, putting 2,500 jobs under threat. The company, whose brands include Cardfair and Card Warehouse, has debts of around £30m, and around one third of its stores are thought to be loss-making. The company's administrators, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, have said that they are hopeful of selling the business as a going concern. Greeting Card Group's turnover for the year ended June 2006 was £70m.
