Inver House Distillers
31/10/2006
The Airdrie-based whisky and spirits company, Inver House Distillers, has recently become a subsidiary of International Beverage Holdings, the international arm of Thai Beverages. While the company declined to reveal the value of the acquisition, sources close to the deal said it was estimated at £60m. Inver House has been owned since 2001 by Pacific Spirits, part of the British Virgin Islands-based Great Oriole Group. Thai entrepreneur Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, the controller of Great Oriole, has significant interests in Thai Beverages, which produces Chang beer and rum in Thailand. The company commented that the acquisition marked "an exciting new chapter in the development of Inver House", bringing the benefits of integration into a multi-beverage group of companies with international distribution platforms and sales networks.
