Investors in Prudential, the listed insurance giant, are pushing for the disposal of the UK assets according to reports. According to a person familiar with the matter, several major shareholders are concentrating on Prudential's booming US and Asian businesses.The life-assurance division in the UK is worth an estimated £6bn but has not performed well. This could persuade the board to look at selling. The group has begun to report closed-life and pension-fund profit lines separately, indicating that the two assets could be earmarked for disposal.
