GAP Group has acquired J&S Plant of Lincoln for £1.3m, taking its plant hire network to 56 sites. Gap will pay £550k for equity, £350k for goodwill and will assume £450k of debt. J&S Plant is the plant and tool hire division of contractor Johnson & Smith. Gap has signed a five year exclusive deal to continue supplying to Johnson & Smith, which previously accounted for around one-third of J&S Plant's business. Gap has also purchased a one-acre site from Johnson & Smith, on which a standard Gap depot will be built. All J&S Plant employees have been transferred to Gap.
