Speedy Hire has acquired LCH Generators, the generator hire company with 196 staff at depots in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Wigan, Coventry, London and Portsmouth, for £55m. All 196 employees of recently sold LCH Generators are set to share a windfall worth millions of pounds, following the sale of the company to tool and equipment rental business Speedy Hire earlier this week. The £59m sale provides a remarkable conclusion to an unlikely story of entrepreneurial endeavour and extraordinary success - with windfalls and job security for their staff, 75 of whom are employed in Scotland, at six offices nationwide. From their base near Balfron, Stirlingshire, Glaswegian brothers John and James Pirrie started LCH 26 years ago and grew it into the UK's biggest fleet of portable power sources.
