Linpac, the privately-held packaging group, has been put up for sale by the family that owns it for an asking price of some £1bn. Michael Cornish, chairman and son of the companies founder, Evan, is believed to have asked Deloitte and Touche to find a buyer. The group which had turnover of £1.1bn in 2000 makes polystyrene boxes for fast food groups and the crates that Harley Davidson uses to ship its motorcycles.
