Lloyds TSB is rumoured to be selling its insurance arm Scottish Widows. Analysts predict that Lloyds, who will reportedly ask £10bn for the sale, would be able to sell Scottish Widows for more than its book value and could then buy back shares worth £1.6bn. The sale could also prevent Lloyds itself from becoming a bid target.
