Londis - Merger
04/02/2004
Nisa-Today's, a rival to Londis, the wholesale distributor, has written to Londis' shareholders, urging them to consider a merger. Dudley Ramsden, chairman of Nisa-Today's, said that his direct approaches had been snubbed and believes that "an outright sale was not in the best long-term interest of Londis owners". KPMG Corporate Finance, which has been brought in to review Londis' options, says it is puzzled by the open letter. KPMG has already had talks with all the key interested parties, including Big Food Group, Co-operative Group, Somerfield, Bestway and Musgrave.
