MAMA Group buys Mean Fiddler Holdings
13/08/2007
MAMA Group, manager to bands such as Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Cheifs, has announced its intention to exercise its option to buy famous London music venues Mean Fiddler, Borderline, Jazz Cafe and Garage, from Mean Fiddler Holdings for £6m.

MAMA, which already owns the Camden Barfly and Kentish Town Forum, also bought a 75 per cent stake in the G-A-Y and G-A-Y late clubs in London. Founder Jeremy Joseph will keep the remaining 25 per cent. The Mean Fiddler Group, now ultimately owned by US-based Live Nation, will now concentrate on running large-scale weekend events like the Reading Festival.

MAMA has spent £20m on buying venues this year. Joint Cheif Executive Adam Driscoll said "We've probably got the strongest collection of music assets in any company in the UK at this point. Linking live and artist management is key because live has effectively become the key thing...that's where real revenue is for artists."
