Mappin & Webb, the European watch retailer, has hiredCavendish Corporate Finance to conduct an auction of the group. European Acquisition Capital, Mappin's major shareholder, attempted to exit the business in 2002, but abandoned the sale when bids came in too low. Sales prospectuses will be distributed by the end of June.
