MARCONI Corporation, the struggling telecoms equipment maker, today agreed the sale of its North American Access business for £135 million cash to Advanced Fibre Communications. The company said it hoped to complete the sale, which was part of the group’s planned overhaul strategy, by the end of the first quarter. However, the deal will only go ahead pending regulatory approval, Marconi added.
