Pearson is to acquire Mergermarket, the provider of financial information to investment banks with offices in London, New York and Hong Kong, for £101m. Founded in 2000, Mergermarket publishes market intelligence on global mergers and acquisitions, as well as compiling databases for investment banks, private equity houses and legal firms. The current management team, led by Caspar Hobbs, will stay with the company. Pearson is the publisher of the Financial Times, and chief executive Rona Fairhead stated that there were opportunities to connect mergermarket and the FT group.
