Misys may sell off its general insurance division
30/01/2006
UK-domiciled financial services software firm Misys may sell off its general insurance division within six months, its CEO has said. Speaking following the release of the company's results for the half year to November 2005, Kevin Lomax said the move would be part of a restructuring of the company following a £5.8m fall in first half profits. Lomax said the sale of IFA subsidiary Sesame - which has been on the cards since at least the third quarter of 2005 when it appointed Lexicon Partners as advisor - was "well under way" and expected within six months. Sesame made an operating profit of GBP 4m for the year to November 2005, while the group's general insurance operations made GBP 7m profit for the interim period according to regulatory filings. If the company is successful in its disposal strategy it could net around £300m.
