The chairman of Morse, the UK-listed IT consultancy, has revealed that the company is considering the disposal of its mobile banking business, Monitise. Richard Lapthorne told shareholders that “the significant opportunity around Monitise might be more effectively exploited outside the group,” although he added that no decisions have yet been made. In the event of a sale, industry specialists have tipped banking software companies rather than banks as the most likely buyers. Morse has a market capitalisation of GBP 154m.
