The owners of Roadchef and Welcome Break could be set to emulate Compass, which is auctioning its Moto chain of motorway service stations, leading to the bulk of the sector changing hands in the next two years. Compass is preparing to dispose of Select Service Partner, which includes Moto, for an expected price of more than £1bn. Roadchef operates 20 service stations compared with Moto's 48, and could attract a price of £40m or more.
