NGW appoints Morgan Stanley to advise on potential £2bn sale
11/12/2006
National Grid Wireless has appointed Morgan Stanley to advise on options for the company after it announced plans last month to sell or demerge from parent company National Grid. The wireless division, which consists of National Grid's phone masts and broadcasting business, is tipped to fetch around £2bn if sold. Potential buyers include Babcock & Brown, the Qatar Investment Authority and private equity firms, but not Macquarie, as the Australian bank holds shares in rival company Arqiva which could cause regulatory problems.
