Regent Inns has bought the chain of 31 Old Orleans restaurants from Punch Taverns for £26m. 27 of the restaurants are short leasehold outlets, and two operate under the Quincey's brand. Regent will add the resaurants to its portfolio which already includes the Walkabout pub chain Jongleurs comedy clubs. Punch acquired the Old Orleans restaurants in January 2006 as part of its £2.7bn acquisition of the Spirit Group, and the sale of Old Orleans is part of plans to dispose of 380 pubs from the former Spirit portfolio. Punch has already sold 290 of these to GI partners for £571m, so the sale of Old Orleans leaves Punch to find a buyer for the remaining 59.
