RMC, the world's fourth-biggest materials group, yesterday said it had received an "unsolicited approach" for its loss-making German operations from Germany's biggest cement group HeidelbergCement. News of a possible disposal was well received in the City. One analyst said: "If they could sell the business, cash the proceeds and get rid of a big loss-maker, it relieves them from a major headache."
