Roadchef review likely to end in sale
19/06/2006
Roadchef, the motorway service-station operator, is holding talks with several banks with a view to hiring an adviser to review its strategic options. Nikko Principal Finance, which owns Roadchef, is thought to favour US boutique investment bank Hawkpoint to conduct the review, which is likely to lead to a sale. Rival operator Moto was recently sold at a value of 16 times its operating profits - using this calculation then Roadchef could be worth over £400m. Roadchef operates 29 service areas in the UK and has a market share of 26%.
