Rock Steady to be sold to rival G4S
05/03/2008
Rock Steady, the Scottish security firm, will soon be sold to its global rival G4S in a multi-million pound deal.
The company was set up 30 years ago by former bouncer Mark Hamilton, who is the majority owner of the business. His wife also holds a minority stake.
Rock Steady's workforce of 2,200 in Scotland and northern England will remain in their jobs.
Hamilton will stay on as managing director for a new G4S events division. He is considering opening a branch of the business in South Africa over the next year.
In the last financial year, Rock Steady turned over £12.2m. It has gross assets of £5.3m.
G4S has 500,000 staff worldwide, 240,000 of which are in the UK, and has a UK turnover of £950 million.
