RWE to sell Thames Water
29/04/2006
German energy company RWE is to sell its UK-listed utility Thames Water. Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs will reportedly be advising jointly on the sale while Barclays Capital will advise on RWE's structure of debt. Thames Water is estimated to be worth up to £7bn. The Information Memorandum is expected to be released at the end of the month, with the sale taking place before next year. Interested parties are thought to be Terra Firma (who may make an offer in conjunction with ex-United Utilities CEO John Roberts), Scottish & Southern Energy and Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings.
