WM Morrison, the supermarket chain, plans to sell 132 Safeway stores when it completes the £3bn takeover of the firm. The portfolio of smaller stores would be sold with the rights to the Safeway brand name and could be worth up to £300m. A number of convenience store groups and financial buyers are believed to have already approached Morrison to express their interest in the sale.
