Shell Energy Europe, the gas and electricity distributor owned by Royal Dutch Shell, has been tipped for a sale or closure by an insider due to tightening margins within the oil and gas industry. The decision is expected to be formally announced at the end of the month. Shell Energy Europe has 7,000 customers, who include industrial and commercial buyers, power producers, local and regional distribution companies and national and international merchants.
