Sierra Lione Diamond Company could be sold off
03/07/2006
The Sierra Leone Diamond Company (SLDC), the UK listed gems miner, could be sold off. SLDC is said to have been approached by Audley Capital, the investment fund, which is offering £2.75 a share. Audley already holds a 4% stake in SLDC. Frank Timis, the chairman of SLDC and the holder of a 40% stake, could net £100m from the deal. Audley is believed to have approached Timis directly about selling his stake. However, should Timis agree to sell, Audley would then take SLDC private, which is now listed on AIM. The total value of SLDC is estimated at £270m.
