Sofa Workshop, the sofa chain owned by UK furniture retailer MFI, has received a number of bids including one from its founder Andrew Cussins, who sold the business to MFI in 2002. KPMG are handling the sale. First round bids for the sale of MFI's other retail businesses are due in to investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein this week, with buyout group Merchant Equity Partners tipped as a possible bidder.
