Ilchester Cheese, the Somerset-based maker of blended cheeses, may be about to go on the market with a sale price of £20m.Owner Inflexion has hired PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) to undergo a strategic review of the cheese producing business. The move comes after the company received several unsolicited takeover approaches.Inflexion, the buyout firm, bought Ilchester Cheese in 2004. It is thought that trade buyers, Dairy Crest and Arla, might express interest in Ilchester Cheese, as well as private equity firms.
