Family-owned Storey Carpets of Sunderland has been sold to national chain Carpetright, in a move that will net the founding Heptinstall family around £19.5m. It is not yet known if any job losses will result from the deal, although it is thought that Carpetright will want to save head office costs. Storeys trades from 30 locations and recorded sales of £32.8m in the year to March 2006.
