Target Express, the UK-based express mail service, could come onto the market, according to two UK sector bankers. Target Express was the subject of a secondary buy-out led by 3i and supported by Gresham in 2000. The bankers said they believed that 3i and Gresham would be more likely to divest rather than acquire within the UK mail market. Target Express could fetch approximately £150m through a sales process. Both bankers believed that Target Express would attract interest from the larger global mail companies, such as UPS, Fedex, Deutsche Post and TNT. A 3i spokesperson declined comment on market rumours and speculation.
