Telewest could see offers for content business
18/07/2005
Telewest could see offers of up to £800m for its content business from BBC and ITV, according to reports. The unsourced item noted that the business will be put on the market very soon. RTL, Viacom and Discovery, the media groups, as well as buyout groups such as Apax, Providence and 3i are likely to bid. 3i, the UK-listed buyout group, would likely team up with Sparrowhawk, David Elstein's investment group. Elstein is believed to be interested in merging the TV channels that comprise the content division with his recently acquired Hallmark channels.
