The Financial Times may be for sale.
25/04/2005
The Financial Times may soon be for sale. Its owner, the multinational publishing group Pearson which owns Penguin and Simon & Schuster, is coming under renewed pressure in front of what is likely to be a tough forthcoming annual shareholders meeting. "On a strictly business valuation, the FT is worth £450m to £500m," estimates a banker who has already started talking to possible bidders. "But because it's the FT, which comes up for sale once a century, it could go for as much as £700m."
