The Scott trust considering selling magazine arm
23/11/2005
The Scott Trust, owner of The Guardian newspaper, is considering selling its £1bn magazine arm. According to Sir Robert Phillis, the independent trust's chief executive, the trust reviews its strategy annually and considers potential disposals and acquisitions; its main aim is to make sure The Guardian remains financially and editorially independent, he said. Magazines owned by the UK trust as part of Trader Media include Auto Trader and Bike Trader among 70 titles. The division saw most recent operating profits up to £117m from £74m the previous year.
