The Times Educational Supplement, along with other specialist publications, is thought to be up for sale in the £250m range, according to the Financial Times. News International will offload the title for the appropriate offer price as the publications are deemed not be core. Goldman Sachs normally works with the group so could be instructed on the sale. The FT and Times differed over the fate of the Times Literary Supplement, part of the same group. The publication is well-regarded and its weekly edition circulates two titles have circulation in excess of almost 120,000. The Times article said that monies raised would serve to support new printing investment. The FT added that profits before tax at TLS Education were up nearly 30% to £22m in 2004 on sales of £56.1m.
